Miracle

Last November, a parishioner emailed me with the devastating news that she had been diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. She and her family had been to our healing Masses and had spiritual experiences. But, she was asking me for more - Anointing of the Sick and any other blessing for healing possible. I said absolutely, and made a time for all of us to meet.

When they came to the church to meet with me privately, I explained what I was going to do. After Anointing, I would place a small pyx with the Eucharist in it on her body for a short time, praying that Jesus would touch her and heal her. This has occurred through me and other priests, but sometimes it takes more than one session. At the end of the first session with the pyx/Eucharist, I sprinkled her with miraculous Lourdes water and suggested that we have another session soon.

We did a few sessions in November and December, I think, before she underwent treatments. In 2023, she’s been mostly at home bravely battling the cancer and even Covid at one point. Her husband and son have been amazingly inspiring in bringing her the Eucharist regularly.

Recently she emailed me to say that her tumor is gone! She’s had three scans done and the only thing that remains is the edge of the tumor which is more like abnormal tissue. We have patiently waited for the final word before we celebrated, but that has come so we’re getting together this weekend to rejoice. The power of God!!

I’m super happy for her and her family, of course, as I would be for anyone who was the beneficiary of a miracle. But they are truly a beautiful family of faith who would be praising God no matter the results. They were that way throughout the process. It’s such an unbelievable gift to be a part of that process especially when it ends so supernaturally well. All glory belongs to God. Its His power not mine.
