Works of mercy

We had a great experience with our high school youth group this past Sunday night. Our youth minister, Megan, and our volunteers organized the assembly of 200 lunches for homeless people in Montgomery County. The teens do this a few times a year and do it very efficiently. Before they made the lunches, we had a discussion on the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy which are listed below. Some of them knew many of the works, and it was good to expose all of them to these important works for people’s bodies and souls.

Corporal works of mercy

· Feed the hungry

· Give drink to the thirsty

· Clothe the naked

· Harbour the harbourless (homeless)

· Visit the sick

· Ransom the captive

· Bury the dead

Spiritual works of mercy

· Instruct the ignorant

· Counsel the doubtful

· Admonish sinners

· Bear wrongs patiently

· Forgive offenses willingly

· Comfort the afflicted

· Pray for the living and the dead
